aI’ve set up this space to post questions and find responses related to the DAC internships posted recently. As mentioned in that call, all interested MDSI students are invited to submit an application to Gabrielle Gardiner <gabrielle.gardiner@uts.edu.au> by MIDNIGHT 11 September 2016.

Full details of this opportunity available here: ]

One question I received this afternoon is about the write up of cover letter that is part of the application.

As the call for applications suggests, you should use the Cover Letter to explain why you’re applying, what excites you about working for the NSW DAC, what skills you’ll bring and why you think you’re a top candidate. So in addition to showcasing your performance as a student in the MDSI program, you might consider looking at the types of projects and major tasks and priorities outlined in that document to help you frame your current expertise AND in terms of your aspirations as an MDSI student. Since your CV and transcript are part of your submission, you can use your cover letter to highlight the particularly key aspects of your achievements and qualification

Hope that is helpful and best wishes to you all.
If you are interested in DAC internships but cannot take up this current offer, please keep a lookout later this year for invitations to apply for 2017 internships.

    Hi Theresa,

Just got back from the MDSI induction evening and i felt quite overwhelmed with the ya dah ya dah

For the purpose of projects and interesting places to look for opportunities to collaborate and develop data science skills, or groups of like-minded people, can you create a post that consolidates those info?

    Cheers

    Charlie
